Playing on
both full size and mini soccer pitches within the boundaries of Bovey Tracey, the
town itself should be very proud of the progress the local football club.
In recent
years the club has achieved Charter Standard Status and more than doubled in
size increasing from, 2 senior teams in the
South Devon League and a couple of youth teams in the Pioneer Youth League, to 3
senior teams and 8 juniors teams.
The First
team participate in the Premier Division of the South Western Peninsula League
which covers and area from Witheridge and Cullompton to the North and Penzance
and Falmouth
to the South. The travelling requires a lot of organization.
The Second
team play in Division 3 of the SDL. They
are currently showing a 100% record and striving for promotion this season.
The Third
team are used as a nursery team to introduce our under 16’s to senior football.
We are proud to include 2 members of last years U-16 team in our First Team
squad.
The Junior
teams range from under 8’s to under 16’s and due to the success of our youth
policy we are grateful to Stover school who accommodate us for training on
Saturday mornings, it is quite a sight to see 100 children of various
ages all playing football and keeping fit!
To keep the
club running takes a huge amount of work and the few involved do a tremendous
job, but we are always looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of the
club. We would welcome the people of Bovey Tracey to help us out and become part
of the background team running both, the football side, with our own Western
Counties Roofing ground, including floodlights and stands, and a superb, well
run club house at the Recreation Ground which holds regular fundraising events
for a realistic membership cost.
We publicise
fixtures and events and will warmly welcome supporters and new members to the
club, along with the search for a volunteer fundraisers and commercial
manager(s) to help us provide the best facilities possible for the future.
