Spring exhibitions and events in Bovey
Tue 4 Mar 2014
The Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey Tracey has a lively programme of events and exhibitions to get you out and about this spring and join in with this lively creative community.
It’s a friendly place to pop in for a coffee and find out more – there’s new cafĂ© menus and wifi for catching up with friends or an informal business meeting.
The exhibition Narrative Remains (until Sunday 23 March) explores the relationship between words, including stories, poems, prose or quotes, and making with work on show including photography, print, collage, enamel, ceramics and textiles.
2 events associated with this exhibition are a Calligraphy workshop with Celia Lister (Saturday 8 March 10am - 4pm) introducing italic calligraphy, working from its traditional roots and covering good letterforms using an edged pen and introducing the tools and equipment used in lettering art. It’s suitable for beginners and those with some experience. £50 (£45) including basic materials.
Also don’t miss the Shakesperian Evening (Thursday 20 March 6.30pm) with a 2 course historical themed meal followed by a talk Shakespeare Today: Exploring Shakespeare’s Cultural Legacy by Amelia Marriette (lecturer, playwright and radio presenter). Only £25 for 2 courses and a talk.
