Sports Therapy. A Hands on Approach....

Sun 11 Jul 2010

Ken Ross has been a Sports Therapist for over 9 years. Originally from Belfast, Ken has been practicing in the South West for almost 4 years. Having previously worked in a National Rehabilitation Centre for the Fireservice, Ken now operates a small clinic in Bovey Tracey situated at the Well Healed Podiatry Clinic.

We took a few moments to ask Ken more about what he does and the people he treats.

What is a Sports Therapist?

Sports Therapists treat not only 'injured athletes', but also deal with many common muscular complaints such as back pain, mobility problems, postural problems and work related conditions. What types of treatments do you offer? Much of my work is devolved from a mixture of physiotherapy assessment methods, combined with deep tissue massage. I provide hands on clinical treatments and offer home advice in the form of stretches and exercises.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage consists of slower, stronger, massage strokes that work deep into muscle fibres. This can be especially helpful for athletes who expose their muscles to daily, intensive conditioning. Deep tissue massage will noticeably loosen muscles, elevate pain, and increase mobility. However, you don't have to be an athlete to enjoy the benefits of deep tissue massage.

Do you have a website?

Yes, I do. You can find out more about Sports Therapy and my contact details at www.advancedsportstherapy.co.uk
