Bovey Tracey Heritage Trust Update

Sun 5 Sep 2010

The Heritage Trust enjoyed a busy summer season. The Charter Celebrations have heightened people's awareness of the history of Bovey Tracey and we are seeing increased numbers at the Centre.

Our exhibition team put on a very successful exhibition at the Methodist Hall, over the Charter Celebrations weekend, attracting hundreds of visitors.

If any readers have not yet visited the Old Station this season there is still time to catch the exhibition mounted for the 750th year of the Granting of the Charter for Fayres and Markets as well as displays of local pottery, the Civil War, railway artefacts and much more. There are also activities specifically for children. The centre closes at the end of the season in October and will reopen next Spring.

Our Autumn programme begins on September 7th with an illustrated talk by Paul Rendell called Lost Devon, about the many buildings and railways of Devon which are no longer here.

Then on October 12th A Curious Look at Devon Churches followed by a Devon History photo Quiz both led by Robert Heskith. £2.50 members, £3.00 non members.
November 16th is our AGM followed by a talk on the Bovey Tracey War Memorial by Mark Bailey.

All events are at the Phoenix Hall at 7.30pm.

Saturday 27th November is our Christmas Fayre with the Bovey Tracey Primary School Choir at the Phoenix Hall.
