Chair Yoga for all

Sun 11 Sep 2011

Yoga has been around for thousands of years and has become more popular again recently because there is a need for it. It helps combat stress and balances the mind body and spirit. It is open to everyone. All classes are different - all teachers are different. There is a teacher out there that is right for just about everyone. It is well worth exploring different classes until you find one that feels right for you. Whatever your physical condition there is no reason to feel that you cannot do Yoga.

If you feel like you need to do something, a gentle form of exercise but it all sounds a bit much, think again. It isn’t always possible for everyone to get down on to the floor but Yoga is adaptable and there is a Yoga that you can do sitting in a chair. The exercises are gentle and manageable and help keep the spine and joints mobile.

Chair Yoga is a fun class suitable for people with mobility issues. It will help to maintain and improve the range of movement individuals have whilst also helping calm and energise. Breathing and relaxation exercises are a part of the class and there is absolutely no element of competition. Each individual is invited to do as much or as little as they are able to do comfortably at any one time.

Chair Yoga classes begin in Bovey Tracey on 14th September 11.15-12.15 am at the Wickham Hall, Ashburton Road. Please contact Kathy North on 01626 821506 or email kathynorth28@hotmail.com or checkout the website at  www.kathynorthyoga.co.uk
