Mel Stride

Mel is a vigorous local campaigner; raising over 14,000 signatures door-to-door to support our post offices, protecting our hospitals (as Co-Chairman, Crediton Hospital Campaign Group), working to improve our schools (he is a Governor of Okehampton College), to secure affordable housing and to ensure that infrastructure is available to support new development (which has included him presenting petitions to both Parliament and Number 10 Downing Street). He is fighting for a fairer deal for our hard-pressed farmers (especially our hill farmers and those in less advantaged areas) and he also campaigns on green issues (having launched the 'One Tonne Green Challenge').
