Day
of music on the farm—Giving something back
A
chilled out day of music on the beautiful Dartmoor
farm.
Come and enjoy a day of music on the farm.
The day will feature local bands, along with musicians
from America and Holland. There will
be a jamming area so just bring your instrument and join in.
In the yard there will be circle
dancing, an African drumming workshop and a performance by Ashburton
community choir who will be making their first outing under the leadership of
Andy Williamson. Already well known as a Delicious food produced by
Ullacombe Barn Owl Farm Cafe using local produce.
Chef Fynn will be doing cooking
demonstrations. The 'Pigs Nose' real ale and cider bar will feature local
ales supplied by The Rugglestone Inn. There will also be jugs of
pimms through the afternoon.
For the children a wide range of
activities and crafts are planned including making your own
instrument for a 'band' procession around the yard at the end of the
afternoon.
An art work competition is being run for
children between 5 and 14. Call in to the farm shop for details. A painting or
drawing on A4 size or fit in a box
50cm by 50cm. It could feature nature, ecosystems, textures.
It could use recycled materials but must have a Dartmoor
theme. All art works need to be brought to the farm shop on the day and
the public will vote throughout the afternoon.
Music starts at mid-day and throughout the
afternoon there is a singer song writer section featuring up and coming
musicians such as Beccy Crow and Simon Prince, Bob Collum from the USA who just couldn’t resist coming to play on Dartmoor! Also Ernie Bell, who’s material reflects a
lifetime of performing, and Jimmy Baker from Holland. As you can see our performers are
drawn from far and wide just to be able to perform for you here
Our evening program includes a wide range of
music to include Pat Gunnings, Owl House band play country/swamp, Martin
Skewes, an amazing young musician. The model Workers, playing punk rock, Rev
Hammer a cult veteran of folk rock, think the levellers. Cat in the hat, who
you may know already play Jimmy Hendrix/rock. This is to be their final
gig! So if you have enjoyed their performances over the years don't miss this
last blast.
To round up the evening are the South West Indies playing covers of music over six
decades in their own unique style that is sure to get you up and dancing!
Give something back!
This is our way of having a lovely time in
beautiful surroundings and allowing us to give something back to those who have
less than us, last year the profits went towards supplying a well for a small
school in Africa, something we take for
granted but that makes such a difference to the children.
This year’s profits are to go towards helping
The Foyer Trust who provide a half way house for children that have spent their
lives in orphanages in Romania and to Helping Hands, a small school in Peru who
are funded by donationas and voluteers to provide an education and good
food to 4 an 5 year olds. Both these charities are available on line.
Afternoon entry is free!
The evening event is £5:00 in advance £8 on
the door. Numbers are limited as this is a small event.
Tickets are available from;
