Riverside Surgery Befrienders

Calling all car drivers who live in, or within 6 miles of Bovey Tracey, have some time to spare during the week, and would also like to do something valuable for their community.
Why not become a driver for the Riverside Surgery Befrienders, the voluntary patient transport organisation that serves Bovey Tracey? We take patients from their homes to the surgery and also to hospitals at Newton Abbot, Torbay and Exeter, as well as to dentists, opticians, etc. Our service helps those who would otherwise have difficulty getting to appointments for many reasons, such as lack of access to public transport, age or infirmity.
Although we already have a dedicated team of volunteers on our books, we desperately need more to cope with rising demand. In 2013, for example, we had over 1200 requests. Our drivers can accept or decline individual trips accordingly to their own availability, so you can do as little or as much as you want. It is thus the ideal volunteering opportunity for those who require some flexibility and dont want to be committed to specific days of the week. All mileage expenses are paid, so all we ask of you is your time, and the patients really appreciate the help we can give them.
New volunteers will need a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, but we can arrange this at no cost to you.
