Many elderly residents have said how much they appreciate all the help that they have received from the medical staff and all others who have enabled them to have a Covid vaccination. At the end of January many elderly Bovey Tracey residents had already received their first vaccination so it will be good news when all those who are eligible have received both of their vaccinations. Let us hope that everything becomes more positive for us all during the year.

Our Council have organised a fund that helps to ensure that those who are in financial difficulties during the current emergency receive help. What follows is an article from our Town Clerk, Mark Wells, about the fund.

Created by the Coronavirus Emergency, Bovey Tracey Town Council is operating a Hardship Fund to help those in need in the Bovey Parish area during the Coronavirus crisis. The Emergency Fund seeks to ensure the vulnerable residents and those in serious need get the support and urgent assistance they require during the emergency.

We would like to thank everyone who kindly donated food, toys and money to our Christmas appeal; we were able to provide 50 children and their families in food need with fantastic food boxes from the Dartmoor Community Kitchen Hub and also toys and treats for all of the children. Special thanks go to The Devon Guild of Craftsmen, The House of Marbles, the West Country Butchers, BDF Fresh Produce, the Bovey Spar, Tesco and Co-Operative, Stover School, Bovey Tracey and St Catherine’s Primary Schools and Bovey Bees Pre-school.

Les Calder, a member of our Residents’ Association committee, who also organises the local Neighbourhood Watch Organisation, has heard from the police that residents should be aware of fake Covid vaccine test alerts. These fake NHS alerts contain a link which appears to be an NHS website which requests personal and financial information. PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. The NHS would never ask for your banking information.
