BOVEY TRACEY RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

Bovey Tracey this summer has attracted many visitors to a number of events held in Mill Marsh Park and elsewhere. These outdoor events included the Craft Festival, Picnic in the Park and the Family Fun Day and in a field near the park, the Garden Show. Some events included a visiting fairground with a firework display.

A large number of visitors and exhibitors came from around the country to the Craft Festival held in September. This has become one of the most popular Craft Festivals in Britain and is always very well organised by Sarah James and her team.

At the Picnic in the Park event there were many visitors enjoying their picnic whilst listening to the excellent singing and music groups and individuals performing on the stage set up in Mill Marsh Park.

Another event held in the town was the Garden Show with a large marquee displaying plants, flowers and other produce grown by local residents. In addition there were a number of stalls, and a dog show.

The Family Fun Day was also well attended with a dog show and duck race.

Although Bovey Tracey is a relatively small town it has a number of active groups that continually organise very successful events that attract a large number of local visitors and those who come from other areas.

What follows is an article from Les Calder, a member of our committee and organiser of our local Neighbourhood Watch Organisation, which has recently received information from Gas Safe Register, a Neighbourhood Watch partner.

As winter approaches please ensure that your own and any other local gas appliances are working safely, for example not showing yellow flames but crisp blue ones, black sooty marks or stains on or around the appliance and high levels of condensation in the room.

Fit an audible carbon monoxide (CO) alarm to alert you if there is carbon monoxide in your home. If you suspect CO poisoning get some fresh air and leave your home immediately. The Nation Gas Emergency Helpline available 24/7 is 0800 111 999

The main symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are headaches, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness, collapse and loss of consciousness.

Have all your gas appliances safety checked and certified every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Contact  GasSafeRegister.co.uk or call 0800 408 5500
