What's on at Green Hill Arts Centre...

Mon 6 Jan 2014

Here at Green Hill in Moretonhampstead we are getting ready to open our latest exhibition; ‘The Green Hill Collection’ recognising the work of some of those who have been instrumental in establishing, running and supporting Green Hill Arts. It starts on Saturday 18th January going on until Wednesday 26th February. All are artists and designers in their own right, and each has been involved with undiminished enthusiasm in making Green Hill the success it is today. The exhibition represents a wide range of genres, styles, materials and methods; an opportunity to enjoy the diversity of artistic talent that helps give Moretonhampstead a focus on the arts. It will promise to be a colourful and diverse exhibition so drop in and see for yourself!
Entry is free, open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-4pm.

Apart from our exhibitions, we are running a wide range of courses including Art Appreciation (a Beginner’s course), Local Archaeology, Tracing your Family History and even French and Spanish! We also run one day workshops including ‘Drawing Still Life’ and ‘The Art of Colour.’ Do ask us to send you a leaflet or go to our website! Courses start at the end of January.

Alongside our stunning contemporary art gallery and heritage displays and archive, we also sell arts and crafts, so if you’re looking for an unusual or creative gift, come and browse our varied range. Our craftwork is made by local Devon artists and we stock pottery, leather goods, prints and cards, scarves, jewellery and much more.
Upstairs at Green Hill we have a number of purpose-built light and airy artist’s studios and we have two available on easy in/easy out terms. If you’d like to view them please contact the Centre manager. As well as being part of a vibrant artistic community the benefits of having a studio at Green Hill are opportunities to show your work and have open studio sessions to the public.

Don’t forget the Moretonhampstead Festival of Food, Drink and the Arts on March 8th when over 5000 people flock the streets to see the stalls, displays, art trail, delicious food, home-made crafts and more. We’ll be open to welcome you on the day with our popular Local Open exhibition where artists who live within the Parish boundary have a chance to show their artwork (frequently hidden at home!) to the local community and beyond.
