  •  2013 was a great success with highest gross reciepts for years.
  • Chairty run pool set to open on Sat 19th April 2014.
  • Repair needed on undercover area damaged in winter storms.
  • Big push to ensure pool is ready to open - willing volunteers should contact. boveypool@gmail.com

The 2013 season, with the glorious weather, was a great success for the pools charity, the Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool Association (BTSPA). The gross receipts were the highest for many years. Notable successes came from the sale of season tickets, particularly the new Platinum Card which gave access to virtually all sessions, the ever popular Early Morning Swims and the Friday night Happy Hour where all swims were just £1.

However, the expenses rise every year, particularly the cost of heating the Pool, the insurance and, of course, the ongoing maintenance. Thanks go to the Tracey Almshouse Trust for their generous grant enabling a new boiler to be purchased.

The strong winds and storms in November damaged the undercover area adjacent to the lifeguards store. Fortunately the roof held on but the three supporting pillars were wrenched out of their footings and relocated some 20cm away from their original positions. They have needed some heavy foundation work to hopefully prevent any future reoccurrences.

The last big task before the pool is brought out of its winter hibernation in April will be the repainting of the outside walls and changing rooms. Any able volunteers who could come along one weekend in April, when the weather warms up, armed with a brush or a roller and add their support would be appreciated.

For anyone new to the Pool, it is a heated open air pool with sun terrace and spectator area, disabled facilities and toddler pool. The Pool is open afternoons from 2.15pm - 6pm plus Saturday morning general swimming and Sunday morning lane swimming between 11am and 12.30pm.

In the school holidays we will be open every weekday morning 11am 12.30pm but some opening times are subject to change so please check the website for up to date amendments. Evening activities include lane swimming, childrens swimming clubs, lifesaving, a Happy Hour, a ladies night and a conditioning session for the keen swimmers.

We also run early morning swim sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. One-to-one swimming lessons are available with qualified swimming teachers. Family discounts apply on weekend afternoons between 4pm & 6pm.

The Pool is run by the Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool Association which is a registered charity. The Pool is run on a non-profit making basis, so any funds raised are used to improve pool facilities.

The Association thanks the eighty plus volunteers who range in age from 15 to 76 who help run the entrance kiosk and the various clubs and evening activities. Without these willing volunteers the Pool would not be able to operate. New volunteers are always welcome.
