Bovey Tracey Carnival Update

A new year, & a new start for the Carnival committee. Thanks go to Tracey for all her hard work as Chair for the last 2 years. We are now a small (but very enthusiastic!!) committee, with new Chairman, Rob Pettit, who has hit the floor running & already got this years Carnival week planned & Largely Organised! The theme for the float has been decided, & it is hoped that last years royalty will stand again, as circumstances meant that they did not attend many carnivals last year, a fact we intend to remedy this year!
We have storage space for the float for the summer, but if anyone has space, undercover & possibly with electricity, where we could work on the float during the winter months it would be very helpful for us to be able to get an early start, building up this years theme. Please contact either Rob 07783427852 or Louise 01626 833430/07792451977 if you can help. Also, if you can help with materials for the float, any left over paint, timber etc you may have lurking unwanted at the back of the garage! It all helps to keep costs down.
As I've said plans are well underway - with lots of events planned - something for everyone, if you would like to be involved & could spare a couple of hours here or there to help at an event - selling draws or ducks, running a stall at a fete, marshalling on carnival day etc. or if you don't have the time but have ideas that would be useful please contact us & become a ‘friend' of the carnival - lets face it, we all need friends! At this time of year I am sure we all have unwanted gifts we don't know what to do with, or a box of chocs too many, please take them into the Old Cottage Teashop, & we will use them for prize draws or Tombolas etc throughout the year. Finally, we would like to thank everyone - the public and businesses in the Bovey area for their help and support this year the carnival wouldn't work without you! Look out for posters of events throughout the year.
