Check Mate!

Do you play Chess? Have you played Chess? Would you like to play Chess?
Perhaps you haven't touched a pawn in years or you have often wondered about the challenge of such an interesting mind game but thought it was too difficult for you.

It is proposed to start a Chess Club in Bovey if there appears to be sufficient support.

It is unlikely that there will be any Grand Masters amongst us but I am sure there is quite a large number who played many years ago, perhaps at school, but have not had the opportunity to continue in recent years. Players of all standards will be welcome and even if you have never played before we shall be very pleased to introduce you to the game and to pass on coaching tips to those with limited experience. Although (for some reason that I don't understand) chess players seem mostly to be male, ladies will be very welcome and may have a civilizing influence on the meetings.
