The 32nd Annual Devon Costal run

Sun 11 Jul 2010

Sunday 18th July 2010 - This most popular event for all motoring enthusiasts this year reaches its 30th birthday and is expected to attract a record entry from all over the country. Centred on Bovey Tracey the weekend has a full itinerary.

300 vehicles from the turn of the century to the 1960's will be taking part. Veteran, vintage and classic cars, motor-cycles, buses, military vehicles and commercials of all sizes and ages will be on show.

Sunday morning sees the start of the Devon Coastal Run from the Exeter Racecourse, Haldon. The vehicles will assemble on the car park for an 8am start and the last will be away by 10.30am. Something approaching 300 will then do the run down the old A38 through Kenton, Peamore and on to Starcross and Dawlish. There is a stop on the TEIGNMOUTH SEA FRONT. The Tiverton Town Brass Band will be travelling on the Run in one of the many Vintage buses and they will be playing on the Den for an hour or so during the morning.

The entrants set their own pace so they will be coming and going at Teignmouth all morning. Some will want to stay on the sea front longer than others which gives the event a lovely informal atmosphere. After Teignmouth the route continues over Shaldon Bridge and onto Babbacombe and Torquay. Along the sea front to Paington and then to Totnes and Buckfastleigh Station, home of the South Devon Steam Railway where there is a second stop later in the morning. Another opportunity to view the vehicles parked in and around the Station by permission of the Buckfastleigh Steam Railway. On to Bovey Tracey via Ashburton and Bickington. Here all the vehicles that have completed the Run will be on display and the lovely riverside setting of Mill Marsh Park, with thanks to our Bovey Tracey Council for the use of this facility. There will also be a licensed bar and refreshments available all afternoon and there will be many stalls to browse around.

Entrance is the cost of the programme with a modest charge for parking. The Club will be making donations to local charities out of any profit made.
